The Conference program will consist of a mix of plenary and parallel sessions, running from 15 – 18 July 2009.

A two-day pre-conference workshop, (14 - 15 July) will provide a comprehensive overview of Imaginative Education theory and practice, and help build participants' expertise in using and teaching Imaginative Education. 

If your proposal for a presentation, demonstration, or panel session has been accepted, we cannot schedule your session in the Conference program until you have submitted a paid registration. 

A full program and schedule will be published here after the final papers have been received. Please note that an official printed program will be provided with your conference package at registration. 

Attention Presenters: Equipment 

Data projectors with computers will be provided in all of the parallel session rooms. We suggest you bring your PowerPoint presentation on a USB memory stick saved in .ppt (.not pptx) format.  Internet access will be available to all registrants. 
 

MAIN SPEAKERS 

KEYNOTE – Eleanor Duckworth 

We are exceptionally pleased to have Eleanor Duckworth as our Keynote speaker this year.Dr. Duckworth, is the author of “The Having of Wonderful Ideas” which is in its third edition and is available in Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Chinese. Her other books include "Tell Me More": Listening to Learners Explain, Teacher to Teacher: Learning from Each Other, and Science Education: A Minds-On Approach for the Elementary Years 

A former student and translator of Jean Piaget, Dr. Duckworth grounds her work in Piaget and Inhelder's insights into the nature and development of understanding and in their research method, which she has developed as a teaching/research approach, Critical Exploration in the Classroom. She seeks to bring a Freirean approach to any classroom, valuing the learners' experience and insights. Her interest is in the experiences of teaching and learning of people of all ages, both in and out of schools. Duckworth is a former elementary school teacher and has worked in curriculum development, teacher education, and program evaluation in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and her native Canada. She is a coordinator for Cambridge United for Justice with Peace, and is a performing modern dancer.
