Abstract
This workshop will actively engage participants in developing awareness, appreciation and skills related to implementing global citizenship and sustainability teaching and learning. Participants will be introduced to the concepts and practices of global citizenship and sustainability in teaching and learning environments. Workshop facilitators will guide participants through a series of activities to: 1) articulate global citizenship and sustainability in the context of teaching and learning; and 2) envision how to foster global citizenship and sustainability through curriculum and classroom practices, including through engagement with the local community. Activities in the workshop will be built around a handbook for instructors and teachers for fostering and modeling global citizenship through teaching and learning. This handbook is currently in development at the University of British Columbia Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth. By using the handbook in the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to provide comments and critiques to help inform future iterations of this resource.
