Abstract
The session will begin with a few creativity cartoons from Calvin and Hobbes and Rhymes with Orange. After hearing a creation myth from Vedanta and receiving examples of fairy tales and other stories depicting creativity, attendees will write their own creativity myths. They will then do a visualization exercise prompting them to experience a central image in their myths and discovering what it means and how it applies it in their lives. Next they will jot down their experiences (mind map, drawing, or paragraph) and share the results with a partner. After volunteers have shared with the group, the session will end with music inspiring creativity (such as “The Hebrides,” “Imagine,” and “Thus Spake Zarathusa”), and attendees will do spontaneous dances reflecting their experience. Those present will leave with a creativity bibliography and list of possible exercises. If there is time, they attendees will hear a poem about creativity and will write one of their own, also to music.
