What happens when a dancer/researcher performs her inquiry in a public space in a university beside a coffee shop and classrooms?
If you are at SFU's Burnaby Campus on any of the days below, bring your lunch, purchase a latté or cappuccino from the coffee shop, and watch as our dancer/researcher engages in improvisational investigations around issues of identity, place, loss, technology, longing. Share your responses, questions, and ideas post-performance. This informal performance series will wrestle with scholarly concepts in theory and methodology through the language of performance. The purpose of this series is to invite provocative and inspiring dialogue regarding the ‘how,’ ‘what,’ and ‘why’ of performance as a form of embodied theory and inquiry.
The dancer/actor/researcher is Ph.D. student Kathryn Ricketts. Kathryn bridges the gap between the professional dance world and the academy, integrating practice and research in the most immediate and engaging possibilities. Dr. Lynn Fels, who brings her energetic and critical force as a performative inquirer to the conversation will facilitate the series.
