IERG awarded a $60,000 grant

last modified 2008-06-23 08:15

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council's International Opportunities Fund has granted IERG $60,000 to continue its work with centres in other countries. The project is to focus on development of teacher education materials and programs in various countries so that they can better implement Imaginative Educational methods. The picture is of (left to right) Sean Blenkinsop, Florentina Ion, IERG's Romanian publisher, Kieran Egan, Therese Iliscu, our translator, Nadia Tarnoeveanu, and Stefan Popenici, in Bucharest in 2007.

IERG members from B.C. will travel to various sites in Europe and west Asia during the Fall of 2008 to discuss how the various sites can contribute to a joint effort to develop teacher education programs.  We will also plan a day's meeting during which the attendees will plan a major proposal to a European granting agency to begin a series of pilot programs in teacher education programs in a number of countries.

The picture below is of a meeting in T'bilitsi, Georgia in 2007, with the Eleoni group, headed by Dr. Leila Bagaeva (top of the table).
