Imaginative Education: Provoking Excellence Across the Curriculum
Registration is now open for this, our 5th International Conference on Imagination and Education. Occurring during the conference will be our 2nd Annual Research Symposium on Imaginative Education as well as a Special Session by Dr. Mark Fettes and his team reporting on results from the LUCID project (http://www.ierg.net/LUCID).
Featuring Dr. Vivian Gussin Paley as Keynote Speaker and Dr. Rosalind Horowitz, Tony Sherborne, Annabella Cant and Drs Kieran Egan and Sean Blenkinsop as invited speakers, this year's conference will take place Wednesday, July 18th through Saturday, July 21st, 2007 at the Coast Plaza Hotel at Stanley Park, in Vancouver, Canada.
Each year for the past 4 years more than 350 delegates from an average of 20 different countries per year come to Vancouver to participate in workshops and traditional paper sessions. New this year will be 'Imaginative Education in Practice' sessions which will give participants the chance to experience IE as executed by the session leader.
The 2nd Annual Research Symposium on Imaginative Education, which is scheduled as two panel sessions, will give all conference delegates the chance to meet and discuss in depth, various research papers that look at different aspects of imaginative education. To read the symposium papers, go to the papers section of the Symposium website.
As in past years, to offset the learning, discussions and fantastic practical sessions during the day, delegates are invited to two different optional evening events. On Thursday, July 19th, delegates can join us on the 35th floor of the Coast Plaza Hotel for the Harbourview Dinner. This room offers an incredible view of the city of Vancouver, the Coastal Mountains and out into the waters that surround the port of Vancouver. Seating is limited. Guests welcome.
For those who enjoy an outing that includes water, mountains, views, food, music and of course company, the 4 hour Dinner Boat Cruise on Friday July 20th is not to be missed. This cruise may be the most popular aspect of our conference with a West Coast themed dinner, music and dancing on one floor of the boat with conversation on the upper floor. You can 'let go' and dance with the band or sit upstairs and enjoy your new and re-newed friendships. Guests welcome.
