Wednesday, December 12th
9:30 to 3:30
EDB 7610

Have you heard of the Imaginative Education Research Group and wondered what it was all about, or how it might connect with your graduate work? Have you come across Kieran Egan’s books and would like to know more about this way of thinking about teaching and learning? Or would you just like to experience a different kind of learning environment than a regular course?
Come flocking....
Kieran Egan and Mark Fettes are inviting graduate students of SFU's Faculty of Education to participate in a two day workshop, based on those they offer to practicing teachers, but with a greater focus on the theoretical underpinnings and research possibilities of this approach to education

We want to inspire you in your research endeavours to consider how learning environments can become more inclusive and exciting places, how learners can gain a deeper, more lasting, and more flexible grasp of subject matter, and how educators can develop new skills, energy, and inspiration.

Coffee/tea/juice will be available.  We ask that participants bring along their own lunch.  Please email our Coordinator Teresa Martin (ierg-ed@sfu.ca) and confirm your spot, or ask for more details.

Pre-requisite to attend: be enrolled in a graduate level program at SFU's Faculty of Education. Faculty Associates, FOE Sessional Instructors and Faculty members are most welcome. Members of the Centre for Imaginative Education Faculty Interest Group are also encouraged to attend. (this para added Dec.5 as clarification)

For background information, see www.ierg.net.

If you are from outside SFU's faculty of Education and you are interested in attending a seminar or hosting one, please email us at ierg-ed@sfu.ca
