NIET is composed of teachers interested in using Imaginative Education (IE) in their classrooms. The teachers who attend the meetings—or who keep up with the group via email and the IERG webpages—have a range of teaching experience and a range of familiarity with the theory and practice of IE. All people interested in IE are welcome. Our meetings aim to support and inspire. We meet to develop our understanding of IE in practice. We discuss lesson plans and issues that arise in the classroom as well as introduce IE to teachers who are unfamiliar with the theory. NIET generally meets once every few months, in the late afternoon, at either the SFU Surrey or Burnaby campus. The support IE teachers receive at the NIET meetings is a valuable and worthwhile tool. We welcome anyone to attend who is interested in learning more about IE or looking for support maintaining IE in their classroom. It is fun--an opportunity to keep up with colleagues in different schools who share ideas and ideals in a relaxed, casual setting. Coffee, cookies, and other goodies help all these processes along. If you would like to learn more about NIET, join our listserv to stay connected or attend our meetings, please contact me, Christa Rawlings, at rawlings_c@sd36.bc.ca.
